ACM to Exhibit at American Coatings Show 2014

December 03, 2013

ACM will be exhibiting at American Coatings Show 2014. The show is on April 8-10, 2014 in the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA. ACM will introduce larger diameter silicon carbide (SiC) fiber technology, which is enabling new performance opportunities for protective coatings. The first new product to be released using this technology will be SI-TUFF™ SC-300, a milled SiC fiber with 7µm diameter and 45-50µm lengths.

ACM manufactures the SI-TUFF™ line of high aspect ratio silicon carbide additives used to toughen protective coatings and extend their service lifetime. These additives improve scratch and abrasion resistance, thermal conductivity, and temperature stability. Reinforcement is achieved at low loading levels, so there is no impact on other desirable properties including non-stick, low friction, and flexibility. Coatings reinforced with SI-TUFF™ have greater durability and last longer, even under extreme environments and wear. Typical improvement is 20-50%, even in coating formulations which are already heavily reinforced. If you think you already have the toughest coating, it can almost always be made tougher with SI-TUFF™.
