ACM to present at SSCT 2013 annual meeting

February 27, 2013

Dr. Tom Quantrille, President of ACM, will be giving a presentation on ceramic nanotubes for exceptionally tough wear-resistant coatings at the 2013 meeting of the Southern Society for Coatings Technology (SSCT) on April 24, 2013 in Sarasota, Florida.

SI-TUFF™ performance ceramic additive was developed from silicon carbide whisker technology used in high performance ceramic parts and cutting tools. With properties similar to diamond, it is designed to reinforce and protect polymeric coatings from repeated wear and high temperatures.

The use of these materials improves scratch and abrasion resistance, toughness, thermal conductivity, and thermal stability. Because it is used at low loading levels, it preserves other desirably coating properties, such as non-stick. These materials are very robust and can be used in practically any environment. They are also food contact safe.
