Sustainability

Everything needed to survive and live well depends on our natural environment.  Sustainability has been defined as “the long-term maintenance of well-being, which has environmental, economic, and social dimensions, and encompasses the concept of stewardship, the responsible management of resource use.”  Sustainability assures we have and will continue to have water, materials, and resources to protect human health and the environment.

HTI utilizes raw materials that come either directly or indirectly from the earth.  Recyclable, agricultural materials are used to produce our Silar® Silicon Carbide Whiskers.  Other mineral-based hard materials are used to produce our ceramic powders and products.  At HTI, we think green, and our products reflect that very color.

Taking what was once in the earth and converting it to another useful product is done every day at HTI.  Great care is taken in our processes to conserve natural resources.  Water is recycled to cool equipment, and power consumption is constantly reviewed and optimized.  Efforts are constantly made to reduce our carbon footprint, and industrial wastes are kept to a minimum.
